§ 29-48. Erection and maintenance.

  • (a)

    The transportation department shall erect or install and maintain all traffic-control signs, signals, devices and markings; including, but not limited to, parking meters, required by ordinance or the city manager.

    (b)

    The city manager may direct the placement of such additional traffic control signs, signals, and devices as it deems necessary to guide or warn traffic.

    (c)

    Whenever the city council designates and describes a through street, the transportation department shall evaluate each intersection created to determine the type and quantity of traffic control devices required.

    (d)

    Whenever a one-way street is designated pursuant to ordinance, the transportation department shall place and maintain signs giving notice thereof; and no such regulation shall be effective unless such signs are in place. Signs indicating the direction of lawful traffic movement shall be placed in accordance with the requirements established in the current edition of the Manual for Uniform Traffic Control Devices.
