§ 31-17. Style of prosecution; complaints generally.

  • All prosecutions for violation of ordinances of this city shall be styled "The City of Stillwater versus (naming defendant or defendants)." Except as provided hereinafter, prosecutions shall be initiated by the filing of a written complaint, subscribed and subscribed by the person making the complaint and shall be verified before a judge, the court clerk, a deputy court clerk or a police officer and setting forth precisely the offense charged.
