§ 11-1. When charter goes into effect.

If a majority of the qualified voters of the city voting on the question vote to ratify this charter, this charter shall go into effect for the purposes of election upon approval by the governor as provided by the state constitution, and the charter shall go into full effect at 7:30 o'clock p.m. on the first Monday in May after its adoption and approval, in lieu of the old charter. The city council shall hold its first meeting under this charter at the above time when this charter goes into full effect.
