§ 20-140. Acquiring a permit.

  • (a)

    A permit must be obtained from the office of the fire marshal.

    (b)

    Applications for permits shall be submitted to the fire marshal's office a minimum of one week (i.e., seven days) prior to the desired date of burning, during regular business hours.

    (c)

    All permits shall be requested by and issued to the owner, or the agent of the owner, of the land upon which the open burning is to take place. Individuals representing themselves as an "agent of the owner" shall have sufficient written documentation.

    (d)

    Permits shall be good for a period of 30 days. However, the fire marshal may extend the period for an additional 30 days, if in the opinion of the fire marshal there was not an adequate number of days to accomplish the burning for which the permit was issued.
