§ 2-81. Passage and approval of ordinances.

  • (a)

    Following the advancement of any ordinance on first reading, any councilor may request a public hearing on such ordinance prior to consideration for final adoption.

    (b)

    Following the advancement of any ordinance from first reading, at a subsequent meeting such ordinance shall be read by title only, unless the city council by majority vote requests that said ordinance be read in full, and considered and following such consideration the city council may pass such ordinance with or without amendments. The passage of any ordinance pursuant to section 2-13 of the Charter shall be final and no further passage shall be required.

    (c)

    An emergency ordinance may be adopted pursuant to section 2-14 of the Charter.
